Carat weight is not always a good indicator of the quality of a diamond. Size isn't everything! The weight of the stone gives no clues as to the quality of the diamond. A commercial cut diamond can look bigger and weigh more than an ideal cut diamond but it will lack the fire and brilliance. You must strike a balance between size and quality.

The size of the diamond must also be relevant to the design you choose and also the hand size and shape of the intended wearer.
