Colour is the second most noticeable feature of diamonds. Ideally what you are looking for in a white diamond is lack of colour. Like a clear window a colourless diamond lets more light through the stone. The more colourless the stone the more rare it is. Diamonds are graded on a scale from D (colourless) down through the alphabet to Z. From about I colour diamonds begin to display a tint, usually yellow, which becomes more intense the further down the scale you go until the diamonds appear bright yellow.

Coloured diamonds, such as - pink, champagne and fancy colours are not graded by this scale as the more colour they display the more rare and valuable they can be.
